About Ben

Ben lives and works in Bath creating wonderful paintings that showcase his astonishing versatility as an artist: eye-catching imaginative scenes; contemporary graphic portraits, and fine oil street scenes.

"I've always loved the graphics of comics," he says and its the distinctive graphic qualities of his portraits that have made him an award winning artist, his visually stunning paintings selected as the Viewers's Choice by the public and as Best Emerging Artist at the Royal West of England Academy.

Superbly painted & virtually photographic in their detail, Ben sets models in a bold outlined scene on canvas painted in a single colour; they are truly unique. Ben's portraits feature clients, friends, VW Beetles, Campers and pets....Ben can paint anything!

And now its rhinos, cows and sheep ..on stripes..that have grabbed Ben's imagination, challenging his love of placing pattern against intense detail; working with amazing colour and fun subjects!

In fact Ben loves every form of painting. He has taught himself every skill needed for both portrait and landscapes, and enjoys it all

"Sitting outside with my brushes, studying how to capture the beauty of Bath in oils... what's not to like?" he enthuses.

The Rector of the Abbey liked this style of Ben's so much he commissioned a painting 2 days after we opened in Bath. As a surprise retiring gift for the Bishop of Taunton, Ben painted a beautiful composition of the Abbey from across the river. Another was snapped up the following day....
